The CDI South application process is fairly straightforward if you have the correct guidance. Please contact us via email for further information. Candidates are selected according to their enthusiasm, professionalism and communication skills.

What you need to do first:

All you need to do is send an updated resume and a recent photo of yourself to recruitingcdi[at]gmail[dot]com. Also let us know the approximate date that you would prefer to arrive. We will screen your resume and contact you shortly thereafter.

Below are some details of what will happen after that. Please simply forward your resume and photo to us first though.

CDI Employment Application

One 500 word essay

Visa documents:
1) Original Diploma — please note “original” — the Immigration office requires the official/original diploma
2) Sealed Transcripts — so your transcripts via an envelope with a seal on it
3) Criminal Record Check with an APOSTILLE or notarization stamp on it
4) 2 Passport Photos. These do not have to be the same as the ones in your passport. Photos from a photo booth will be fine.
5) Copy of the front page of your passport
6) We’ll send you a copy of your contract & if you can just send us back the page requiring your signature - upon your acceptance

1. Essay - This is to assess your fluency as a writer. You can choose any one of the following:

  • In your opinion, what invention or discovery has brought about the most far-reaching
    and lasting changes in our civilization? Explain.
  • If you had the power to change any event in history (outcome of an election, who
    won a war, etc.), which would you choose to change, and why?
  • Apart from chronological age, what are some major differences between an
    adolescent and an adult? Explain.
  • Which single person has had the greatest impact on society and why?

Directions: Select one of the topics below and write a coherent essay in the Standard TOEFL format (introduction, body, and conclusion). Please use Microsoft Word. Also, write your name and the date at the top of the essay, along with the essay topic you chose.
Length: 400 ~ 500 words (4~5 paragraphs, 1.5~2 pages)

First set of candid questions:

A. Do you read, write, and speak English as a first language?

B. Do you hold a valid passport issued from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Ireland, South Africa, or Korea?

C. Do you have a 3 or 4 year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Ireland, South Africa, or Korea?

D. Can you provide official sealed-transcripts from the university you have graduated from?

Second set of questions:
A. Do you have a criminal record? (Background checks are a standard procedure for all schools in Korea)

B. Have you used any illegal substances in the past 6 months like marijuana, cocaine or any other drugs that are a outlawed in South Korea?

C. Are you coming to Korea mainly to explore the country & travel?

Step by Step — the process from your home town to South Korea & CDI:

Candidate submits initial required documents:

Candidate undergoes in-person/phone interview

Candidate receives offer of employment - if approved

Candidate accepts position and submits documents to CDI for the E-2 visa (Korean citizens and those eligible for the F-4 visa are exempt, but need to submit their original degree)

Human Resources department address any outstanding questions or concerns

Candidate purchases plane ticket, and sends flight confirmation/itinerary

Upon receipt of the visa issuance code, candidate gets the E-2 visa stamp from the nearest embassy or consulate

Depart to Korea

One week of training occurs at Seoul headquarters

The amount of time between receiving an applicant’s resume and his or her departure to Korea is a minimum of one month (two months in some cases). The process for acquiring a visa alone can last up to one month. The departure date also depends on the individual and the availability of current positions. If offered a position at CDI, we will provide you with more detailed information on the things you will need in order to make the smooth transition into Korea.
